The TPS7A20 is an ultra-small low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator that delivers 300mA of output current. The TPS7A20 is designed to provide low noise, high PSRR, and excellent load and line transient performance as required by RF and other sensitive analog circuits. The TPS7A20 uses innovative design techniques to provide ultra-low noise performance without the need for noise bypass capacitors. The TPS7A20 also features low quiescent current, making it suitable for any battery-powered application. With an input voltage range of 1.6V to 6.0V and an output voltage range of 0.8V to 5.5V, the TPS7A20 can be used in a variety of applications. The device uses a precision reference circuit to provide a maximum accuracy of 1.5% across load, line, and temperature variations.
The TPS7A20 has an internal soft-start function designed to reduce inrush current, thereby minimizing input voltage drop during start-up. The device is stable when paired with small ceramic capacitors, thus enabling a small overall solution size.
The TPS7A20 has a smart enable input circuit with an internal controlled pull-down resistor that keeps the LDO disabled even when the EN pin is left floating, helping to eliminate external components for pulling down the EN pin.
